How to sell and preserve morels

Being a new mushroom hunter and hoping for a good start this year, I'm wondering where I can get information on selling morels and preserving them. - Joni, Winona

 In your area, Hill's Morel Mushrooms buys morels out of the Leidel's apple stand on Minnesota 16 on the south edge of La Crescent.

It's not hard to preserve morels. Just dry them, preferably on a screen or stretched piece of cheesecloth, although I've dried them on my dashboard. Then store them in a plastic bag. That works for me, but you can read discussions of other methods on the Morels.com message boards. The Hill's site also has a handy page on Mushroom Care.
